Today’s Goal: One Word: Remember

Category: Worry

Today’s word: Remember

Defined: remember–to have (something) come into the mind again:
I just remembered that it’s your birthday today.

What it means to me: I will not let the troubles of today make me forget the victories I’ve had so far.

My story:

Once upon a time (okay, last week), I caught myself worrying about my money.

Will I have enough to cover the rent and the lights and the internet and have enough money left for gas and groceries….?

And then I had a thought.  I remembered. I am still alive. Even when I didn’t know or recognize it, God was providing for me. I am still here, by grace. I haven’t starved to death. I still have a place to sleep tonight.

Sometimes I think God has to be irritated by the way I think. That’s probably not true, but I know I used to get irritated when my kids would freak out if dinner was late. What? Have you simply forgotten that I’ve fed you every day of your life? Do you think I’m going to just let you starve today?

I don’t want to be that kid.

Takeaway: There is absolutely no rational reason to worry about having enough. I am Loved, cherished, protected, and provided for. I have a divine plan and purpose for my life and it does not include me being homeless.

Today’s goal: Today I will not worry about my basic needs, because I will remember all that God has done for me.

Affirmation to go:

Matthew 6:25-26

25″Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear… 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
