Category: Challenges
Defined: Opportunity —a good position, chance, or prospect, as for advancement or success.
What it means to me: perspective
My story:
Today my alarm beeped and before I even opened my eyes, I knew I had a headache. It wasn’t a migraine (which I have battled before), but it was pretty awful.
I have a firm belief that the attitude I put on in the morning will determine the trajectory of my day. At this moment I had three choices:
1. Call in sick from work, lay in bed, feel sorry for myself, and pray for God to heal me.
2. Get up, go to work, and carry that pain, because I’m tough—martyrdom tough.
3. Trust that everything is a part of a plan that I may not understand.
I chose number 3. Before I threw back the covers I started repeating Romans 8:28.
“For we know that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.”
I said it in the shower and while brushing my teeth and while packing my lunch.
By the time I walked out the door, my headache was gone.
Takeaway: Every day I will have opportunities to grow my faith. Sometimes they are big and obvious. Sometimes they may seem insignificant, but every day I have a chance to add another stone to the foundation of my faith. There really is a reason for everything, even if I don’t get it right now.
Today’s goal: Today I will see every inconvenience as an opportunity to trust God with its purpose.
Affirmation to go: Romans 8:28
Thanks for this amazing reminder. That verses is something I need to repeat, understand and remember.
