The following passage is a bit dark, and not the usual happy stuff you might expect from me. Do not be alarmed. I’m not depressed, just stretching my writing muscles.}

This week’s prompt:
She didn’t want to watch any more of the news, but she couldn’t bring herself to turn the coverage off.
She couldn’t look away.
She didn’t want to watch any more of the news, but she couldn’t bring herself to turn the coverage off.
A frail woman, about her age tried to look away from the reporters—a woman awaiting trial for murder. She’d seen that face before. More accurately, she knew the look; knew it well. It was the reflection of a diminished life and forced silence. On brave days, that expression, that shadow, tentatively looked back through her bathroom mirror.
It was the look of a woman who simply couldn’t take it anymore.
I came over via Today’s Author to check out your work. Nice job with the prompt. I think many of us can understand the feelings and that “look” of not being able to take it anymore.
